Stepping Hill Critical Care Unit
Stepping Hill Hospital’s Critical Care Unit cares for 500 patients per year recovering from major surgery and other life threatening conditions such as pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis. To meet an increasing demand for such care, a £1m+ state of the art expansion of the Stepping Hill Critical Care Unit is planned for summer 2010. Funds raised will be used to help us to purchase some of the advanced equipment required for this expansion, and to develop the facilities that are provided for the relatives and friends of patients managed on the unit. Having a loved one in critical care can be a difficult and stressful time. While patients are critically ill, relatives often spend a great deal of time in the waiting areas while intensive patient care is carried out. By making the environment and facilities available in these waiting areas as comfortable, well designed and pleasant as possible, we hope to go some way to helping them through this experience.
